White Christmas - Tricia Foley

I havn't posted in awhile so I thought I'd would give you a peek of what's inside my book called White Christmas by Tricia Foley. Foley is a frequent contributor to Victoria, Town & Country, and House Beautiful magazines.

I have been sick so many times in the last few months that my tonsils finaly gave out on me and I got tonsillitis for the first time in my life! My god trying to sleep when your throat keeps closing up is scary! Anyways im gettin better and hope to stay that way at least for the meantime.... I couldn't wait for winter and now I can't wait for spring? tse tse ... never satisfied.....

What I like in the below photos is not only that the theme is all white but notice the vintage linen stockings, the basket for storing bulbs filled with straw and a chandelier draped with moss, which is great for me because I can't seem to get a wreath to look good on my chandelier! and we all know how hip that is right now! hellooooo mosssss....

I got this book from Amazon and so can you...

On another note I want to say thanks to Charmaine at Beautiful Things To Share for the wonderful lemonade from lemons award. Charmaine has one of the best blogs I've seen and she has impeccable taste, so if you havn't been to her blog, your really missing out.

Now im supposed to name 10 other bloggers to give this to, but im soooo lazy this time, sooo I will just have to nominate everone in my blog list! They all deserve it anyways!

Happy Thanksgiving 2008 Tablescape

Happy Thanksgiving to my readers. I'm posting early so you get a sneak peak of my tablescape this year. It will just be me and my 2 younger girls this year, so it's all about simplicity seating, but fit for princesses! It's set using all white with a touch of blue. I hate ironing so lets hope the wrinkles in the table cloth flatten out by tommorow night! I was hoping it wouldn't show up on camera.... but to no avail it did.

I spray painted my old orange pumkins white and did a vase of white ostrich feathers to relax the setting and give a shabby look.

Romantic Home In Texas

This is the home of antiques dealer Lynn Rodriguez of Texas. I found these photos in the Creative Home magazine Winter 2008 edition. Sorry BHG is no longer selling them online so I have no link to give you. What I love about this home is the very vintage romantive ambiance. She has decorated with all white, cream, parchment and brown, which is so vintage looking and in right now! Muslin drapes are everywhere, leading to total romance. I love her mantel, it's so simple but yet french! Anyways to get better photos you got to get this magazine. Again my camera does not do any justice for anything. Enjoy...

Shabby Vintage Christmas Stockings & Victorian Cones

I usually don't bother to post anything on my home because im never satisfied with the photos or I feel it just looks plain boring, but I've decided to give you a sneak peak on my mantle design this year. This fireplace mantel is located in my keeping room off of my kitchen and sits to the left of my desk. Nice and cozy when im working. For my Christmas this year its all about my all white custom made true vintage linen stockings, victorian cones, cherubs, shabby candelabras, greenery and of course mercury glass. I added the victorian cones right on top of the white stockings to be filled with candy. I think I will change out the side french plaques to hanging christmas swags.

My very talented mother is also sending me some of her Nordic Victorian Cones for my other rooms. I asked her to put some together for me and they have turned out better than I imagined! I love the Nordic look and you will not find another designer or seller that has yet to put together LINEN, FUR AND CUSTOM EMBROIDERY all in one design! You can find her cones here www.pablobdesigns.etsy.com. I will photo them in my home with they arrive.

Please exuse my bad out of focus pictures, my camera is out of it! To zoom in ckick on the photos. Here is what I've put together so far:

.....what I would give for a true french stone mantel!......

New York Studio Remodel Makeover

I just found this great 450 square foot New York studio makeover at the Daisy Pink Cupcake blog and had to share...

It is designed and remodeled by owner Kelly Geisen of New York. Every inch was thought out and used for function and beauty. Look at the corner closet, she added that from an unused space and matched the closet doors to the kitchen moldings. The closet almost seems to disappear. The kitty litter is hid beneath the ottoman at the foot of her bed. Curtains hung from the ceiling give the illusion of a canopy bed which adds privacy and separates the space. More kitchen drawers were added at the bottom of the top cupboards for her silverware. An eighteen inch dishwasher is hidden. There is a TV cabinet built into the mantel. Did I tell you I love white!

AFTER:

I would have loved to see the bathroom here but could not find a photo, sorry.

This wonderful makeover has changed the way I feel about small spaces, usually I feel suffocated by them.....but this is beyond refreshing and I would feel right at home here!

Dining Room Eye Candy

I ran across this forum thread at iVillage Garden Web today and I just have to share it. Sooo many wonderful inspiring photos of dining rooms all on one page! Here are a few that caught my eye:

I love the birds nest chandelier in this photo. It is an inexpensive fabulous trendy idea and I think im going to try it out.

This photo is not showing the dining table but I love the beautiful bird cage and the white drapes.

The above photo shows a really different possiblity with white walls. Sooo chic!

I'm sorry that im unable to give proper credit to the designers but they were not listed with the photos. Whats a girl to do?

The Love of White

This summer im seeing white all over the place, and im glad! These wonderful photos are from Better Homes and Gardens online. Thank you BHG for your wonderful site and magazines with soo much inspiration. I don't know about you but for many years it seems that almost every design show i've seen on TV the designer would strongly baulk at a white room they were planning to redecorate. I would hear over and over that the problem of the space was that there was no color, which then they would go on to painting the room a strong color to rectify the problem. I would be sitting there thinking.. but what if the home owners like French Country? I've had the French Country Bug for a long time now and have always liked the light natural looking paint colors on walls with this style. So here we are.....white paint can come in soooo many colors and can give the feeling of a soft and romantic room to a more modern and minimal looking room. This can be very relaxing on the eyes and give the feeling of being in a very fresh and peaceful room. Well all need to be a little de-stressed these days.
I also love the accessories available for this look including creamware, distressed items and anything renaissance, leading to the romantic look. I'm so inspired this summer with all this white. Last summer I fell into a strange decorators block with my own home and put off many projects. I guess its time to get busy. God help my husband.....
