Office interior design

Like our home, our office or workplace is an important part of our life. Their can be little denial of the fact that we spend a major portion of our lifetime in the office. Basing on this observation, you will be able to contemplate how to improve the facilities and design of the office. The concept of the home office is gaining popularity, with more and more people choosing to work from home. If your office is a home-based one, then you need to select the suitable area and plan the interior decorating accordingly. The main criterion for selecting a suitable place for your office silence. The area should not be disturbed by any other event in the house. Next, choose the suitable interior-decorating scheme.

Whatever interior decorating scheme you choose, you need to allocate enough room for movement and accommodation of all the necessary equipment and furniture. For example, your workstation should not be too crowded or muddled up. You can use smaller objects instead of large ones. For example, you can use old trays as stacks for piling stationery and other rough documents. The chairs and computer table should be soft but sturdy, with as many compartments as possible. This will save you the, much-needed space. You need to have separate plugs and boards so that the wires and other cords are not messed up. After all, you cannot afford to waste your precious time, struggling with those jumbled knots everyday! You have got other jobs to do.

Talking of a general or commercial office, some guiding factors for interior decorating are freedom of movement, appearance, maximum space utilization, and so on. There should be a separate workstation for each employee, where he or she can work with ease and comfort. Also, the lighting and air-conditioning facilities should be correctly fitted to cover all sides evenly. There should be enough air circulation through windows, which of course, should be beautifully draped with curtains or blinds. Only if the surroundings are comfortable will a person’s mind think freely and creatively. For an office, starting from the entry point to the cafeteria lounge, interior-decorating ideas must be chosen carefully. Safety is also important in big offices, since many of employees work there.

Interior decorating 2009

Is your living space rather plain and bland? Do you need to put a little, or even a lot of, pizzazz into your home or apartment? There are ways to liven up your living space that will offer intrigue and interest but not break the bank. If you live in an older home or apartment, rather than treating your walls with a new coat of paint, choose cream vinyl wallpaper that will give the walls a fake lacquer look. It makes the space look new and clean and completely renews an older structure. An added advantage is that the pale color and glossy finish helps to maximize the available light in the room. While we are on the subject of wallpaper, you can make a dramatic statement by swathing a single living-room wall with big floral or geometric patterned wallpaper. By using neutral colors on the upholstery and on the other walls, the area will seem brighter and airier. This is especially striking if you have limited windows in the room. You now have a focal point in the room!

Molding is another home decorating idea which adds life to a room. Adding molding really finishes off a room and is a quick, inexpensive way to create old-world charm. To add a little spark to the room use high-gloss rather than eggshell white trim. The nice part about molding is it can be used in any room of the house for an extra special touch. To make a small area come alive go all out with color. Even though a space is rather confined you can make it distinctive with a coat of paint, a faux finish or wallpaper in a mid-tone shade to emphasize the area. You will, no doubt, have nothing but praise from your guests as well as family members.

Do you have a bad view from a window in your home or apartment? Even though it may seem immoral to block a window, it is sometimes necessary. A large mirror or even a tri-fold mirror will hide the unappealing view while at the same time reflect light into the room. The gives the room an illusion of more space and a sense of grandeur. Be creative when decorating and take advantage of the original architecture of your home or apartment. For example, if there are built in bookcases with a space between, turn that area into a cozy nook. Use these easy, simple interior decorating ideas to add new life to your home while staying within your decorating budget!

Gemstone Globes Make the World Colorful Place

As a kid, many of us were awed by the world globe that sat in the classroom. Only on special occasions were we allowed to touch it - it wasn't a toy, we were told, but an expensive piece of science equipment. Not surprisingly, this fascination with the world globe has followed us to adulthood. After being initially disappointed that there weren't really black borders around each state and that each country really wasn't a different color, we still marveled at the beauty of this wonderful place we call earth. Perhaps that's why we find gemstone globes so fascinating, even as grown ups. The semi-precious and precious stones fit so well together, like a giant puzzle where every piece has its proper place. And while the states and countries can all be different colors still, the natural beauty of the stones and the fine craftsmanship of the stonework, only serve to make gemstone globes even more wonderful to behold.

If you've ever had the pleasure to study one of the many gemstone globes on the market today, then you understand the amazing amount of work that goes into each one. And you probably remember your teacher's admonishment about handling the globe carefully. Dropping one of these fragile yet stunning gemstone globes is a definite no-no. When you're shopping for gemstone globes for your home or office, there are endless choices. You can get them in black or white or the traditional blue base color. Some of the newer models of gemstone globes are monochromatic while others are very colorful. One thing's for sure. Gemstone globes make a wonderful addition to any home. They are not only good educational tools for the kids, but they are works of art as well. Each country, region and state is exactly reproduced and proportioned. In addition to teaching your kids about geography, you can also teach them about the precious and semi-precious stones used in these gemstone globes. It's a geography and geology lesson all in one. Whether you get a small globe for the office desk, a tabletop model to display on a shelf or one of the amazing floor models that even tilt on their axis, you'll find that gemstone globes make a beautiful and educational addition to your home. In fact, they will quickly become a cherished work of art that your children will look forward to having in their home someday.

Interior Designer Tips for Selecting a New Paint Color

1. Find a starting place. Pull your color inspiration from something already in the room such as an area rug or painting. If you are planning to replace the furnishings in a room as well as fresh paint, start by finding the new items for the room. Finding a paint color to match a rug you love is infinitely easier than trying to find a rug you like to work with the color of your walls.
2. Think about what you like, and what colors you like to wear. If you don't look good in yellow, do not paint your Master Bathroom yellow or you will be unhappy with yourself every time you look in the mirror. You might be seeing a lot of blues and browns in home furnishings lately, but if you don't love blue do not paint your room blue just to keep up with the trends.
3. Get inspired! Mother Nature is the world's best colorist and she pulls together the most incredible palettes. Look around outside for color combinations you might have never considered.
4. Start small and take baby steps. If you want to try a bold color for the first time, start in a small and manageable space such as a Powder Room. The small space will allow you to live with you new bold color in a small amount, plus you will need very few accessories to pull the look together.
5. Ignore all "rules" you may have heard such as dark colors making a room look small. Do not be guided by what you have been told is right or wrong when selecting colors. Yes, some of these rules do have some amount of truth but the world is not black and white, and nor should your home be.

Accent White Walls Decoration

Using Kinetic Pictures to Accent White Walls : Most homes and apartment walls in not only the United States but also around the world, are in most instances painted white. What is, agreeably, nice about the color white is the way it adds a sense of spaciousness in a room, not to mention the fact that it is relatively easy to add to it from one decor to another. It comes as no surprise therefore that the world of kinetic art, pictures and sculptures has tremendously increased the decorating options that can be applied to adorn a white washed wall. This article will look at how pictures in motion can uniquely transform and add character to a white wall as compared with traditional static wall hangings. Pertaining to motion, the word kinetic in art as projected through drawings and sculpture, probably rose to fame in large kinetic sculptures displayed in public places like those created by Ralfonso Gschwend. Gschwend, a designer of environmentally interactive, kinetic, light and sound sculptures that interact with the environment such as wind and water, may have set in motion what has now transcended into kinetic art finding its rightful place in the modern home.

Regardless of the texture of your walls, and whether flat paint, or a glossy finish was used, kinetic pictures wall decor stands out beautifully against light surfaces. And above all, as if to add a new dimension to art in the 21st century, these impressive pieces depicting the outdoors come complete with sound and motion. Needless to say, they can present a very classy look and ambiance to even the most modest of homes. Kinetic pictures wall decor is becoming easier to find both online and off, yet this art form still remains exclusive in that it is not mass produced. The positive side, undoubtedly, unlike the way mass produced wall hangings would provide pieces identical to that of your neighbors, kinetic wall hangings are in themselves unique and relatively inexpensive. And what would appear to add icing to the cake is the wide array of 3D moving pictures that are available. Depicting exotic backdrops like waterfalls, virtual windows, stunning sunsets, city skylines complete with sounds that sooth, these cutting edge masterpieces of technology help to transport even the avid day dreamer into exotic territories afar.

If your ideal vacation to the "Aloha State" involves staying in a hut and experiencing life like the Hawaiians do, then a moving picture will bring your desires into scope. Your wall hanging can give you a taste of everyday Hawaiian life as often as you like as you look out your "window" at the neighboring huts. Wall hangings can be used to accent any kind of white wall providing they are done in a very stylish and tasteful manner. Imagine a traditional picture in rich bright colors hung against a stark white wall; and then picture that same white wall adorned by a moving picture that emits sound and has a 3D display of exotic images to add life and bounce to your living space. That is the magic of kinetic pictures as compared with the static variety. However, as you would with normal pictures, do ensure that your moving pictures are nailed to the wall with good symmetry. A lopsided moving picture would appear even more untidy than a static picture. It is with a fair degree of certainty therefore, that the modern living space is getting smaller and white walls by virtue of their ability to create a sense of space, have created a void that can be filled and brought to life by extending the delightful vistas of the outdoors with moving pictures.

Decorative Wall Clocks Have You Considered These 9 Options?

You want a wall clock that keeps time AND gives you decorative pleasure? Before you make a choice, consider these nine types of wall clocks that are sure to add to your decor. Purchasing the right wall clock can give you many years of pleasure, add to your decor and even gift you with visual and sound memories in the years to come. Your decorative wall clock can even become a conversation piece. Do you remember any clocks from your childhood? I remember two clocks in particular from my early years. One was in my grandmother's house in St. Paul, Minnesota. She had a cuckoo clock that was endlessly fascinating to me at four and a half years old. The cuckoo bird popping out was a visual treat while we were simultaneously regaled by a number of "cuckoo's" equivalent to the hour. I liked pulling on the weighted chain, too, that wound up the clock.

The other clock we acquired while I was in elementary school. It was one of those glass-encased wall pendulum clocks. This one had a "key" to wind it up with. The chiming on the hour is unforgettable and, to this day, brings nostalgic feelings when I hear it 40 years later. It reminds me of a place and time in my life... Your decorative clock choice can do this for your and your family as well. More recently I remember a large wall clock when we were invited to dinner. Our friends had hung it on one of the few wall spaces in their kitchen. It was elegant and a real conversation piece. Large wall clocks are pretty dramatic in typical-sized rooms.

There are some memorable quotes about or including clocks. Here are just a few:
* "We all run on two clocks. One is the outside clock, which ticks away our decades and brings us ceaselessly to the dry season. The other is the inside clock, where you are your own timekeeper and determine your own chronology, your own internal weather and your own rate of living." - Max Lerner
* "Love vanquishes time. To lovers, a moment can be eternity, eternity can be the tick of a clock." - Mary Parrish
* "Quiet minds cannot be perplexed or frightened, but go on in fortune or misfortune at their own private pace, like a clock during a thunderstorm." - Robert Louis Stevenson

Consider these types of wall clocks to help you find one to fit or become the centerpiece of your wall decor in a room. Think through all these options when choosing your timepiece:

* antique wall clocks
* retro wall clocks
* contemporary wall clocks
* pendulum wall clocks
* neon wall clocks
* kitchen wall clocks
* large wall clocks
* novelty wall clocks
* unique wall clocks

You may not find all of these clock types well-represented at one clock dealer whether "brick and mortar" or online. Is a contemporary look important to you, or would you rather go with an antique or retro look? Do you want certain features such as a pendulum or neon light? Do you want something unusual enough that you feel fairly certain you are the only one with something like it in your circles? Do you want a large bold clock? Decide which type interests you the most or makes your heart leap and search for that particular type of wall clock. In your looking you may run across just the right one or you may decide another type will work better for you after all.

Some of the features you may want to pay attention to when considering a clock:

* Chiming or musical?
* What color would look good?
* What is it made of?
* What number style do you prefer (Roman, Arabic, none, etc.)
* What shape appeals to you?
* What would make it memorable?
* What size would suit you

You now know some of the main types of wall clocks available as options for your wall decor. You've also explored some of the features to think about when considering a clock. Presumably now, you will want not only an item that keeps time on your wall, but a piece that also speaks to your heart, possibly makes memories and starts interesting conversations as well. That's a lot to ask of a decorative wall clock, but your will find one out there, if you'll only look.

Budget Decorating Interior Decorating Ideas for Small Spaces

Are you looking for some interior decorating ideas that won't break your budget? If so, you will be happy to know that there are plenty of changes you can make in your small space that will help spruce it up without hurting your pocketbook. When it comes to budget decorating, the simplest change you can make is color. With a little paint, you can really open up a space and make it appear brighter and more welcoming. If you want to make your space look bigger, try dabbling in bright colors that will help lighten up the room. If you are looking for a cozy space, on the other hand, keep your colors on the darker side. Either way, a bucket or two of paint won't put too much strain on your budget.

Other budget interior decorating ideas include finding ways to catch the eye of everyone that enters the room. Purchase a few inexpensive frames from the dollar store and put some of your favorite photos inside. Or, purchase some charming posters and put them in the frames and hang them in your space. By doing a little bit of shopping around, you will certainly be able to find a great piece to put in the frame and display in your small space. Just make sure you don't overdo it. Putting too many pictures on your wall will look cluttered and unattractive.

Throw pillows and rugs are also great when it comes to budget decorating. Simply throwing a few pillows on a couch or chair can help you achieve an entirely new color scheme. Yet, you can purchase great throw pillows for less than $20 each and they can be changed out regularly in order to create a fresh and attractive look.
