No one, I repeat no one could ever get me to desire or even admire contemporary design...until now.....BARBARA BARRY! Barbara Barry is recognized as one of the world's most prominent and talented designers. Her design philosophy is to creat a sanctuary and calm haven in our hectic lives. A Northern California native, Barry has received numerous awards and honors. She has worked with the best companies throughout the world. From Henredon to Wedgwood, Kravet Fabric to Dream Bedding, Boyd Lighting to HBF, McGuire Furniture to Kallista Bath Products. The first piece that caught my eye was her Grand Oval Starburst Dining Table.
There is something about how well she pairs dark wood with soft muted fabrics or other pieces that look closely like sweedish pieces updated! If you like the colors and lines of Gustavian style but want a modern look she's got it.
I will never go completely contemporary but I can happily say that I'm alot more comfortable with the dark cherry cabinets in my home that my builder installed. I was thinking I must paint them all white and glaze them, but thanks to Barry I might just keep them looking modern.....maybe.
